It's simple and I do like it. However, I wish I could change my profile from the app. I have to go back to the original website/forum to update. Also, the way the ads pop up are annoying. I understand they pay the bills and allow the app to be free. But sometimes the ad drops or slides in and is a bit harsh. Also, wish ads could be customized to my interests.
When it works it's nice; more and more frequently however it does not load properly and I get the incessant spinning icon. The only fix seems to be uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Which only works for a short time. Not sure how much longer I'm willing to out to put with that before throwing in the towel completely. Sure as heck not going to pay for that.
Easy to use and understand, which is great. It's not getting a 4 or 5 star review because it's obnoxious about asking for money. I actually am now a paid user but only because it's difficult to deal with if you aren't paying for it. The free version limits how many photos you can upload at once, puts a monthly cap on image uploads, no gifs, and limits photo sizes to basically thumbnails. The ads are also pretty annoying, only because they're the kind that pop out of nowhere as you scroll.
In the last month, the ability to upload multiple pictures at once has been removed (you have to select it one at a time), it crashes far more often when trying to open a Chrome/IE/FFox link, the uploadable picture size has been capped... I mean, come on. Just go ahead and remove the standard version and force people to buy Tapatalk Pro if that's how you're gonna treat us.
Freezes quite often and won't show pictures in threads. Pictures will show up just fine when you're not using the app (viewing the threads via webpage works fine). Regarding the freezing issue, you have to force stop the app, and that only resolves it sometimes. Its pretty frustrating. Its alright, but I'm thinking of uninstalling due to the issues. It's not worth the subscription fee, for sure.
I pay for pro so it's easier to navigate w/o ads, & can upload photos easily. However, there have been several issues lately. My forum 'disappears' even when I log out & back in, for hours at a time. I get errors uploading photos, for periods of time, then I try back in a few hours and it's usually fine. I assume it's because things are being worked on behind the scenes that effect functionality. It'd be awesome if we had some visibility to knowing that, because right now, it sucks.
I used to like this app even though it had some bugs on the searches and notifications, but now the app has gotten really bad. Select one topic from a search and a completely different topic pops up...nearly everytime...yes, really. I'm starting to lose my patience with it and had it not been for the multiple forum boards that I already have setup here, I would have switched already. But I suspect that I'll be on the lookout for an alternative real soon...
It is nice to have easy access to the forums I am in. But if it keeps offering video ads, I'm going to be deleting. I don't always have wifi access, and it will play video ads even while I'm posting a repl. For the first long while I used it, it was just image ads that were annoying, sure, but able to be worked with. Now it's CONSTANT video ads, and when you try to mute them, it sends you to the "Pay $4.99/year April deal for no ads." Be smart with the ads or you'll lose people.
There are five forums for my vehicle, three are active to very active. Tapatalk works with none of them.
Used to be fine, but the ads are too intrusive and the whole app seeks buggy now. Fails to load threads, freezes when scrolling, etc.
This is a lenient evaluation. Using this since 2012, it's getting worse and worse with ads pop ups and crashes. Wish to find an alternative soon
